THE BEGINNING

Trish Alexander began teaching Saturday classes at Skate King, the skate school was named Later Skater Productions.

June 1999

NAME CHANGE

Trish creates the name Skate Journeys

2001

1ST SUMMER CAMPS

 First year of youth summer camp, hosted at Skate King.

SUMMER 2001

SUNDAY CLASSES ADDED

Sunday classes are added, starting Saturday & Sunday lessons.

2002

40 INSTRUCTORS

SJ has 40 instructors on staff teaching lessons.

2005

NONPROFIT STATUS

Skate Journeys transitions to a non-profit.

DEC 2009

PARADE

SJ skaters participate in the Seafair Torchlight Parade, skating the parade route.

2012

SKATE KING CLOSES

Skate King in Bellevue closes after 40 years, rink classes end and become mobile classes.

JULY 1, 2015

BRIDLE TRAILS

Skate Journeys is mobile, teaching Sunday classes at Bridle Trails.

2015

FUNDRAISER

The 2015 Fall Fundraiser raises $10K to purchase a van for mobile classes.

FALL 2015

LITTLE VAN

The Little Van is purchased from fundraiser funds.

JAN 2016

FUNDRAISER

The 2016 Thanksgiving Fundraiser raised $20K to purchase another van for mobile classes.

FALL 2016

BIG VAN

The Big Van is purchased, expanding mobile program capabilities.

WINTER 2017

JEWISH DAY SCHOOL

Saturday classes are offered at Jewish Day School.

2019

PANDEMIC

 Skate Journeys pivots during COVID-19, offers Zoom classes & private lessons at Marymoor Park.

MARCH 2020

FITNESS ON SKATES

Fitness trail class start, training students to skate the Seattle Super Skate Marathon, 10 students completed the marathon. 

2020

CLASSES AT LYNNWOOD

 Post-pandemic Saturday & Sunday classes are offered indoors at Lynnwood Bowl & Skate.
