Skate Camp Director

Skate Journeys hiring!
The Camp Director is the top leader and decision maker at our summer skate camps. The Camp Director oversees the daily camp schedule and activities, supervises ALL camp employees & campers (60 people on site). They are responsible for overall camp safety, program implementation, and coordinates administrative activities. This is a temporary role created to support our 2024 summer skate camps.

This is a non-skating role! The Camp Director will not be skating during camp hours.

Position Purpose: Manages the entire camp, on site and delegates this position when not on site.

  • Essential Job Functions:
    • Directs and supervises all camp staff.
    • Directs and supervises all campers.
    • Responsible for ensuring the safety and wellness of all campers & staff on site.
    • Manages and updates the daily schedule along with special events and inclement weather.
    • Manages the relationship between the parents, campers, & staff.
    • Manages conflicts between staff/staff and staff/campers.
    • Available to drive company van, ensuring equipment is available at camps.
  • Required
    • Experience & proof of successfully working with children is mandatory.
    • Valid driver’s license & clean driving record required.
    • Preference given to those 25 years +
    • Must be able to lift 30-50lbs.
    • Must be able to pass background check.
  • Hours & Availability
    • Must be available during all scheduled 2024 camp sessions, 40 hours min each camp week. Camp Sessions 1-4 are at Eastside Christian School in Bellevue 
      • Camp Session 1: July 15 – July 19
      • Camp Session 2: July 22 – July 26
      • Camp Session 3: Aug 5 – Aug 9
      • Camp Session 4: Aug 12 – Aug 16
    • Must be able to attend scheduled pre-camp training (22 – 30 hours)
      • Staff training day aka “Camp Day”: June 22nd, 10am – 2pm via Zoom.
      • Evergreen Summer Camp is at The Evergreen School in Shoreline
        • July 11 & 12, 8:30am – 12pm
  • Rate:
    • Competitive, based on experience.

Skate Instructor

Skate Journeys is always looking for passionate skaters to add to our team as Skate Instructors. Our Skate Instructors teach in various programs in the Seattle, Lynwood, and Bellevue areas, and help expand the skate classes and programs we can offer.

Skate Journeys is a nonprofit committed to teaching and transforming lives through inline and roller skating. With the recent surge in interest in skating of all forms, it’s a very exciting time to do what we do. If Skate Journeys sounds like the right fit for you, we look forward to hearing from you!

Priorities:
Facilitating weekend classes: managing and teaching quad and inline skates in various programs.

Role requirements:
• must be able to lift 30-50lbs
• must wear safety gear & helmet
• must have clean driving record & pass a background check
• must be SkateIA certified (we can facilitate this in training)

Hours: Part-time, variable, definite weekends
• 15-25 hrs/week in role
• 10 hrs/wk to start while training
• Up to 40 hrs during summer camp weeks
• Saturday/Sunday schedule
• Days will alter during busy season (summer camps, etc.)

Compensation
• Starting $16 – $20/hr
