Weekly Class Updates

Hello Skaters, as we prepare this newsletter, the sun is shining, and we are so looking forward to outdoor classes. See below for updates to that!

1 – Regular classes on Saturday only. Sunday we are closed due to a derby bout at the rink.
2 – Ernie Kirkland is teaching another dance class on Saturday. Those are well attended, but not too big, and we’ve received great compliments on his classes, so hope you will join in. This Saturday 9:45am, warm up starts at 9:15am
3 – Saturday Trails class. It looks VERY iffy as 40% rain forecast, and on Friday’s newsletter and via the WhatsApp, we will advise if we can have class.
4 – Kids Summer Camps: The first 3 summer camps are full, the fourth one on August 11th is still open. There is a waitlist for each of the first 3 camps and it looks like everyone on the waitlist WILL get into camp. We will open the waitlist about 2 weeks prior to camp.
5 – Feedback: 2-minute survey…. Do you want us to stay open on Sundays or Saturdays during the summer (July/Aug/Sept) Click Here:  And you get a free SJ Lanyard by telling Jordan at the front desk that you took two minutes to fill out the survey (and the survey is fully anonymous so we don’t know who to give the lanyards to, so please ask.)

Upcoming Skate Ops

  1. We are closed two Sundays in a row due to Easter, so we are offering, on Sunday, April 27th, a free day of classes. All classes B2 and above can simply show up. ALL Beginner-1 classes MUST pre-register as we only allow 5 students per instructor into those classes. So, if you invite friends, they will need to register to ensure a place in that class. FREE!
  2. Upcoming Free Class Days:Saturday, April 19th, Sunday April 27th and Sunday, Father’s Day June 15th. Invite your friends and family. While we do not do discounts, we offer a free Saturday and Sunday class each quarter, this quarter we have 2 free Sunday classes. Put them on your calendar!
  3. There is a Level 1 Certification coming June 21/22. There is no pre-training (apprentice) for those under 18 until the fall, so this is for Adults and our Apprentices who took the Fall course but could not attend the Level 1 Certification in January.

outdoors Trails class

  1. We will offer the Outdoor Skills class soon (how to navigate bad cement, inclines decline, wheelchair ramps, curbs and debris). It will be at college place Elementary, near the rink.
  2. We need three people to register for any outdoor class in order to offer it (gas, travel time and instructor pay factor in)
  3. Iffy weather has us utilize WhatsApp so we can decide if class is happening.
  4. Once we can offer a class, we need our WhatsApp skaters to verify they are attending.
  5. Payment & Check-in: Once we have at least three participants and suitable weather, you’ll be able to check in. To pay, go to the customer portal and pre-purchase your class before checking in. Registration: To register, simply confirm your attendance in the WhatsApp group. Check-in Link: The check-in link will be available on WhatsApp, and Trish will repost it before each class.
